Three Essentials from CTFN this Week

IBM’s acquisition of open source cloud software company Red Hat should not raise major competition concerns, sources told CTFN.

A decision from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission regarding the acquisition of NxStage Medical by Fresenius is expected any day, FTC sources told CTFN.

EDP:PL/China Three Gorges
Tiago Corrêa do Amaral, public law and energy lawyer with Lisbon-headquartered law firm Abreu Advogados, told CTFN that ERSE’s preliminary decision, which was issued prior to the December 12 decision, said the purchase “is not in compliance” with the law, given that REN also has the Chinese state as a major shareholder. He added that the Generg/Datang transaction raises similar issues to CTG’s bid for EDP.
